metaphor- A metaphor is poetically saying something is something else.

Simile- A simile is saying something is like something else.

some examples- 

simile- The basketball player passes the ball through the defenders legs like threading a needle.

metaphor- You have a heart of gold.

simile- Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you gonna get. (forest gump) ahaha

metaphor- School is a prison.
